*Preparing for Easter

For the students at Valle Catholic Grade School, Holy Week involves learning about the holy days of the Triduum, discovering the traditions of washing feet at the Mass of the Last Supper, becoming acquainted with phrases like “venerate the cross” and discussing the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Preschool made “Empty Tomb Crescent Rolls” with the help of their 4th Grade Prayer Angels.

Each marshmallow represented Jesus’ body which was wrapped (covered in sugar mixture) and placed in the tomb which was then sealed tight (closed up in the dough). When the “tombs” are ready to be served each person break theirs open and experiences the emptiness of the tomb. Matthew 28:1-9

Students in second grade, under the direction of Mrs. Caba and Mrs. McClure, performed a play of the Passion of our Lord. They did a beautiful job portraying the last days of Jesus’ life and His Resurrection.

For our smallest Warriors it also includes bunnies, chicks, jelly beans, and egg hunts. Kindergarten met with their 5th Grade Prayer Angels to make Easter baskets.

Activities included reading a Jelly Bean Prayer:

On the day before Easter break, the little ones participated in the traditional Easter Egg Hunt which had to be held indoors this year.
