*Valle Celebrates Dr. Seuss & Read Across America Day

Valle Catholic Grade School celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss during the week of his birthday (March 2nd) as they held various activities throughout the week.

Classes read Dr. Seuss books, played Seuss B-I-N-G-O, made Seuss crafts and played games.

Some classes noted Dr. Seuss’s 114th birthday by reading his most famous book, The Cat in the Hat at 2:36 pm – to note the number of words in the popular book which is celebrating its 61st Birthday this year. The Cat in the Hat has been popular since its publication. Dr. Seuss wrote the book because he felt that there should be more entertaining and fun material for beginning readers.

Because March 2nd is also Read Across America Day thousands of schools participated by bringing together kids and books. Valle was no exception. Principal Mrs. Metzger visited classrooms to share a favorite book.

Employees from Wolk’s Insurance & Financial Services, Therese Gegg and Wendy Herman read to the preschool. Retired educators, Karen Duvall, Anne Munoz, and Joan Wilson also paid the preschool a visit.
