Wow! What a Week!!
Homecoming 2013 at Valle Catholic started on Monday, October 7th with a “good morning” donut for everyone. Student Council members wanted everyone to start off on a sweet note. Halls were decorated according to the theme which was Pixar movies. Classes competed in many small events including best costumes and literally drag racing across the gym on quilts and tossing balloons filled with whipped cream. Lots of fun! Also on Wednesday students competed by building towers of canned food collected from each class to help the St. Vincent de Paul Society with their pantry needs.
Wednesday evening was a beautiful night for the
traditional Pep Rally with introductions of volleyball players, football, cheerleaders, cross country and the band. Royalty was introduced: Freshmen Allison Weiler and Cole Wood, Sophomores Briley Bieser and Matthew Luttrell, Juniors Susan Roth and Koltyn Schilly, Seniors Michaela Operle and Tyler Fallert. Mackenzie Wipfler served as Miss Valle and Dylan Kreitler was Chief Touchdown. Sydnie Weiler reigned as Queen.
Homecoming parade excitement began on Friday after senior football players were given Homecoming surprises (Valle blue Gatorade and sunflower seeds) by the first graders.
Grand Marshal, Mrs. Joyce Greminger led the parade. Over 40 units were in the parade this year. The classes of 1943 and 1948 were some of the true Warriors that returned to celebrate with everyone.
Prior to game time a ceremony honored Mr. Dan Hermann for all his hard work and dedication to Valle over many many years.
Miss Amber Roth sang the national anthem while Club Scout Pack 404 honored our flag. Mr. Walter “Stormy” Crawford and Mr. Wallace from the World Bird Sanctuary along with 2 bald eagles created a special moment for everyone.
Later on Friday float competition was announced with the seniors earning spirit points for first place followed by freshmen and juniors. The highlight of the of half time was the crowning of Ms. Weiler by retiring queen Whitley Bieser. After all
of the week’s excitement the Warrior team earned the victory over the Eagles at Father John Dempsey Field to make Homecoming 2013 a major success.
