Mary Okenfuss, St. Louis Archdiocesan ‘Teacher of the Year’

Mary Okenfuss of Valle Catholic High School was honored as Teacher of the Year in the St. Louis Archdiocese.

The announcement was made last week by school principal, Mark Gilligan.

This prestigious award is presented annually to a teacher who stands out among their peers throughout the entire St. Louis Archdiocese Catholic High Schools.

"Over the last 30 years, Mary Okenfuss has dedicated her career to the students at Valle Catholic High through creativity in her classes, use of technology, and commitment to empower students to enrich their lives and prepare them for the modern world. In addition to her classroom schedule, Okenfuss devotes hours of her own time to key activities like the Valle Auction and serving as freshman monitor," a school official stated.

Valle Catholic Schools is a preschool through 12th grade school that strives to provide a Christian environment while encouraging students become the best version of themselves through academics, activities, and the Catholic mission of Valle Catholic Schools.

This is the second year in a row that a Valle Catholic High School faculty member was named teacher of the year in the St. Louis Archdiocese.

In 2013, Nancy Fisher of Valle Catholic High School received the Cardinal Raymond Burk teacher of the year award.
