On March 31, 2015 10 students from Valle Catholic High School of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. competed in the Southeast Regional Envirothon held at the Conservation Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Team 1 consisting of Jacob Trautman, Austin Pennell, Nathan Zerwig, Logan Tucker and Matthew Skaggs won top honors in 5 out of 6 categories including Oral Presentation, Soils, Aquatics, Current Issue and Wildlife which earned them First Place in the event.
Team 2 members were Blake Pennell, Dalton Kertz, Evan Grein, Chris Loida and Claire McDowell. These freshmen earned third place.
Both teams qualified for the state competition in May.
Students and their coach Mrs. Mary Boyer would like to thank the local Soil and Water Conservation District for sponsoring both teams.
