*Bellarmine Speech League Final Meet

On Saturday, April 28, 2018, the Valle Catholic Speech Team participated in the Bellarmine speech meet finals at St. John Vianney in St. Louis. In speech meets, students in grades 5-8 develop and improve their public speaking skills by memorizing and performing material in Humorous, Serious, and Duet categories. At this final meet, the top students in each category from over 50 schools competed. Ribbons are awarded to participants based upon the total score received from four judges. Trophies are awarded to the top 20% performers in each category.

Team members are from left to right:

Humorous Solo: August Palmer (7th grade), blue ribbon for “David & Goliath” by Flip Wilson

Duet: Kacy Fahnestock and Ella Kraenzle (5th grade), red ribbon for “Stowaways” by Ken Bradbury

Valle Catholic had two students who qualified for the Humorous Solo category, August Palmer and Ella Wolk. However, schools are only allowed to send one speech per category. August Palmer was selected through a random drawing.

Congratulations to all the students on their hard work and excellent performances!

The team is coached by Sara Drost.
