*Citizens Electric Safety Day

Did you know that Ste. Genevieve Electric Cooperative was formed in 1941 under the direction of the Rural Electrification Administration to extend power lines to rural southeastern Missouri? In 1945, at the end of World War II, the first 202 miles of line were energized, and Ste. Genevieve Electric started active operation as a rural electric cooperative.

Valle Catholic 3rd and 4th Graders participated in Citizens Electric Corporation Children’s Safety Day held at their service center in Ste. Genevieve. Students were provided transportation to and from the plant as well as being treated with a pizza lunch, snacks, and drink. The students learned about the safety of electricity and tree trimming, saw a demonstration of how to dig a hole for an electric pole, watched a lineman climb a pole, and saw the many tools that are used to provide and maintain electricity to its customers.

The highlight of the day was the ride in the aerial bucket with a lineman.

Valle Catholic students thank Citizens Electric for the great opportunity they provided to them!
