Underclassmen Awards

On Wednesday, May 28th Valle High School faculty and students substituted an awards assembly for seventh hour class. Dr. Mark Gilligan opened with a prayer and brief words about the “honors” we all receive for doing our best and being committed to our goals. Teachers then called students forward for their well earned awards.

Perfect attendance went to Anna Fallert and Sally Heil.

Chemistry awards included Outstanding Advanced Chemistry student, Jacob Trautman. In General Chemistry awards were earned by Madeleine Drury, Sally Heil, Richa Kanani, Carl Loida and Emily Roth. Ms. Fischer’s Love of Learning award went to Briley Bieser and the Light Bulb Award winner was Matthew Luttrell. She also announced the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award winner Nathan Zerwig.

Math Awards recognized the competition Math Team which did very well. Sally Heil and Jacob Trautman had superior achievement at the competition. Outstanding Algebra I student was Jordan Zerwig. In Algebra II outstanding students were Sally Heil, Carl Loida, Richa Kanani, Madeleine Drury, and Emily Roth with Chris Cabral earning the Most Improved award.

Special Recognition was given for the St. Michael’s College Book Award for Scholarhsip and Service with a Social Conscience. The certificates were awarded to Allison Drury and Joseph Trautman. The Ronald Regan Awards

went to Paige Naeger, Sally Heil, and Emily Fischer. The University of Rochester Awards were Jacob Trautman for Young Leaders and Susan Roth for Social Justice.

Top ten students were announced for each class.

SADD members received recognition as did the Student Council Members. After these announcements 2014-15 Stuco officers Kaci Figge, Abby Fischer, Krista Flieg and Emily Bauman along with NHS officers Jacob Trautman and Susan Roth recognized Miss Romaine Holman, Social Studies teacher for her commitment to Valle and 25 years of service to National Honor Society. Ms. Holman is retiring to a life of travel and golf. Mrs. Brenda Sumner, Reading and Learning Specialist is also leaving the halls of Valle. She was given a warm thank you for the times she offered students a smile, quiet room or a little extra help with anything.

Dr. Gilligan and faculty concluded the assembly with a blessing for the students and wishes for a safe, productive and happy summer.
